# Why Use Proxy MTG Cards

Proxy MTG Cards which use alternative artworks, or otherwise are immediately recognizable from real cards also serve a valuable purpose.\
\
Many times, environments at a local store may be very proxy-friendly and users frequently have customized decks to fit the theme of artwork they enjoy.\
\
Proxy cards are typically much less expensive than bootlegs, and offer the same benefits in terms of casual play.\
\
Anytime that authentic-passing bootleg cards are not needed, proxy cards can do the job. If the following apply, proxy cards might be for you:

* The store you are playing at has an environment which is very proxy-friendly for casual play.
* You wish to play with cards using unofficial artwork.
* You have many many decks which you want to create using entirely proxies, making bootlegs more cost prohibitive.
* You own very few real cards, and need large quantities of proxies.
